LILIA BEAMAN is currently ASFD's Flat Pattern instructor.

Lilia picked up sewing as a hobby in 2008 a year after completing a B.A. in American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She re-enrolled at UT one year later to complete a B.S. in Textiles and Apparel Design, winning Best Overall Collection, Honorable Mention, at her senior thesis fashion show "Transcend" in the spring of 2013. As a part of her degree  requirement, she completed a one-year apprenticeship with Ghassan Karim of Gassane Tailors, most famous for being the personal tailor of U.S. presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and George W. Bush. From 2013-2014, Lilia ran her own custom tailoring, bridal, and alterations business "Lilia Ballí" out of Austin Fabric Co-op. She has just launched her new line of shirts called "Western Whims" this present year of 2016.


Jessica Ciarla is a fashion designer and consultant with over fourteen years of experience in the fashion industry. Jessica worked in New York City as both a fashion designer and fashion publicist where she placed editorial coverage and backstage press for prominent fashion houses. In 2009, Jessica moved to Austin and launched her collection CIARLA bride, after receiving her Masters in Fashion Design Advanced at Polimoda International Institute of Design and Marketing in Florence, Italy.
CIARLA bride features a collection of locally made little white dresses for the modern bride in luxurious silk fabrications. CIARLA has been featured in national magazines such as Vogue Nippon, In Style, Lucky, Time Out New York, Brides Magazine and The Knot amongst many other local publications and television segments. CIARLA is distributed nationally to local boutiques and was a winner of “Best Bridal Designer” at Austin Fashion Week. 
In 2015, Jessica received her second masters in Mass Communications and Journalism with a Concentration in Public Relations. She is currently pursuing a MFA in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art and enjoys living in south Austin with her husband and two small children.



Michelle Washington is a Fashion Stylist for magazines, celebrities, fashion events, and fashion shoots. She earned her Bachelors degree in Fashion Design and her Masters degree in Education. Michelle has worked in many facets of the fashion industry from Trendy Tuesday on “Good Day Austin” to fashion instructions at various institutions. She has held titles such as a Wardrobe Consultant, Designer and Technical Designer for men's wear, women's wear and children's wear and has worked for various known and unknown clothing company labels such as, Nike, Abercrombie & Fitch, Perry, Ellis, Tahari, to name a few.

LUISA GIL FANDINDO is an experienced textile designer with a proven track record of successful design projects, delivering high quality results and excellent client satisfaction.  Her communication and problem solving skills enable her to achieve customer goals and expectations.

Luisa is currently designing her own textile collections and supervises the manufacturing processes of functional architectural textile surfaces for different fashion and interior design projects.  Luisa has been able to create product and textile designs, focusing on trends, fashion, protection and comfort.  She incorporates geometry. topology and technology into surface design through a variety of techniques inspired by mathematical algorithms. 

Luisa is also passionate about teaching and strongly believes her experience in the industry is valuable to aspiring professionals in the creative industry.  She currently teaches textiles and attends different educational institutions and design companies as a guest designer.
