This summative, upper level class encompasses all the skills learned in the previous three core classes: Fashion Illustration, Garment Construction and Pattern Development.

The course is broken into 4 sections:

  • Planning & Preparing:  Students will create an Inspiration Board, define their Target Markets, and learn about Brand Definition and Fabric selection and sourcing.

  • Design Development: Students will learn how to visually brainstorm design ideas through sketches, and will narrow and focus these down to a final selection of 5 carefully completed illustrations.

  • Flat Pattern and Drape final designs:  Students will choose 3 garments to develop into finished pieces.  They will develop and refine patterns using draping and flat pattern, complete test fits in muslin, and construct their final designs out of fashion fabric.

  • Portfolio: Students will assemble digital portfolios including their completed inspiration board, sketches, finished drawings, photos of the pattern development and garment construction process, and pictures of their finished pieces on mannequins.

Students are responsible for purchasing their own supplies.  Registered students will receive information regarding supplies for this class.
