Alterations Workshop: Hem and Taper Denim Pants

WORKSHOP DETAILS: Alterations are changes to clothing that also change the way the garment fits, and are usually focused on one particular fit area. It could be as simple as taking up the hem on a pair of pants or shortening a sleeve.
Do you have a pair of denim pants that are too long? In the Workshop: Hem and Taper Denim Pants, students will learn how to hem denim jeans and taper legs. The students will learn alteration techniques using a single-stitch sewing machine and a serger and hem their own pair of denim pants.
Any sewing not completed in class must be completed by the student on their own. Students are responsible for purchasing their own supplies.
- Pair of jeans that need to be tapered and hemmed
- Denim thread to match thread on your jeans
- Schmetz denim needles (size 18-20)
- Tailors' chalk
- Black or white thread
